Correlation between androgen deprivation therapy and cognitive function Lead Investigator: Sophie Sokolow Institution : UCLA School of Nursing E-Mail : ssokolow@sonnet.ucla.edu Proposal ID : 157 Proposal Description: Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the primary treatment for recurrent and advance prostate cancer. ADT has been associated with increased risk for adverse cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Recently, there have been some indications that cognitive function may also decline following initiation of ADT. Identification of cognitive decline in prostate cancer patients becomes important for monitoring and management of treatment effects. The goals of the current studies are to use the NACC database to identify longitudinal changes in cognitive function in subjects taking ADT versus comparable subjects not receiving ADT. Specific Aim: To compare longitudinal changes in cognitive function in men started on ADT over time with a matched group of matched males never receiving ADT?
